TOUR DETAILS
What we will visit and experience: a walk along Monteriggioni’s walls, visit to a winery and wine-tasting, a homemade ice-cream tasting in Castellina in Chianti, a stop to Fonterutoli to admire the breath-taking landscape of Chianti.
SCHEDULE
Our tour starts with a visit to Monteriggioni. This small town is surrounded by medieval exterior walls which have been built for defensive purposes at the time of the Sienese Republic. The old town, with its narrow alleyways, features a legendary Well and the Church of Santa Maria. In addition to visiting these top sights, we will climb up to the hamlet’s walkable walls in order to admire the view across the surrounding countryside. The tour heads towards the heart of Chianti, an area which is renowned for the production of the Chianti Classico wine. A wine-tasting will be held in an ancient farm surrounded by vineyards and there you will sample 4 local specialties: a selection of local wines, extra-virgin olive oil, Vin Santo and grappa. An expert will show you the ins and out of the Chianti Classico wine-making. A scenic road dipped in the green will eventually lead us to the Castellina in Chianti, where you can taste the real homemade ice-cream flavor.
